Zen blend banana smoothie recipe

Smoothies are a great on the go breakfast or as a snack, so here is my go-to recipe for a banana-based delight!

Enjoy your smoothie away from your main meal, or have as a snack, as this will be little more gentle on your digestion.

Also be aware of balancing your blood sugar levels by adding lower carb vegetables and fruit, eg spinach, frozen cauliflower (yes, it tastes great!) or berries.

You can also leave out the date and maple syrup if you'd prefer.

Add hemp seeds, chia seeds and nut butters for a protein
smoothie boost, or a good quality protein powder.

Be creative and have fun in your very own smoothie bar !

Serves two

Ingredients
1 frozen or fresh banana, chopped
2 cups of unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice - cashew is also good
1 date, chopped
2 teaspoons of almond nut butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla - you can also add a little maple syrup but you might find this too sweet

Method

Blend your prepared ingredients together and serve in a special glass or an on-the-go cup.

Optional additions and tips
To make it a chocolate dream, use a little cacao.
If you blend with frozen veg/fruits, add a little hot water or turn it into a smoothie bowl and add your toppings.
You could also have a Power Ball with your smoothie.
